No. Our various studies with Miovision and several other algorithmic-based firms around the world have revealed
data quality inconsistencies and vehicle classification limitations that are likely attributed to variables related to the temporary installation nature of our industry. These same issues are not nearly as prevalent with the permanent installation of cameras that are widely used for various ITS solutions.
The NDS method results in the highest quality data in the industry (+/- 2%) with maximal flexibility in classifying any number of elements such as pedestrian/bicycle attributes, FHWA axle-based vehicle classification groupings, observational data collection, and many other traffic and transit-based studies. NDS is the only firm in the nation that has dedicated departments related to Auditing, Video Reduction, Processing, and Analysis to ensure a premier customer experience.
We certainly understand the appeal that a firm like Miovision has for firms that don’t want to spend the time or resources to build a dynamic back-end team, but to us, the back-end team is what makes the difference.
